Bringing Students To The Gospel Through The KSCF National Convention
Since its inception in 1958, KSCF National Conventions have remained vibrant, with students, teachers and associates being ministered to in order to enhance spiritual maturity, bring about character change, grow leadership development, and the spread of the word of God. What began in 1950s as small groups of students, teachers and associates has now grown to thousands of students. For example 2019, we had close to 9000 delegates attending National Conventions in four regions referred to as the blocks.
“But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:18.
As we all know, the impact of COVID 19 was felt most by students when schools were forced to close for more than 8 months. For students, the experience of schools being closed vastly influenced their behaviour and well-being. Even after they reported back to school, there has been an outcry from parents, teachers and education stakeholders of moral degradation among the young adolescents including sexual orgies, drug abuse, burning of school facilities, and negative impact of social media. These challenges point even to a bigger problem that the spiritual as well as psychosocial support systems and wellbeing of students have been altered negatively. It simply implies that a number of students are struggling with a range of spiritual issues.
It is placed therefore upon us to rectify this situation before it goes out of hand. It is against this backdrop that KSCF has organised annual national convention which brings together students and Christian teachers across the nation to be equipped and trained not only on how they can live above these challenges but also train them on how they can be of help to their peers at school. The training will equip the delegates on how to offer psychosocial support to both school and church community. Students will also be trained on Peer to Peer Ministry.
This year’s National Convention will be held in the sub counties on 26th to 28th April, 2021. The plan is to create centers within the sub-counties and have students gather in halls in these centers. A sub county might have as many centers as possible at the convenience of the students.
We are making a strategy on how to support a number of students from hardship areas such as Tana River, Samburu, Isiolo, Kwale, Marsabit and Turkana to be able to attend the conference. The convention fee is 1200 without travel cost and we intend to support 500 students with accommodation fee of sh1200 (1200*500=600,000).
This letter therefore gives you an opportunity to support a number of students from these areas to attend the convention. Together lets nurture the conviction, calling and character of the students that will prepare them to be useful in the society at large. We will appreciate to receive your support by 31st March 2021 to aid in the preparations. The monies are to be sent to Pay Bill No: 542600, AC. No: Gospel2021.
